Sri Lanka targets high income economy in two decades

Sri Lanka hopes?to achieve the status of high income economy in the next two decades, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said today.

He said the rapid economic development required to achieve this goal depends on innovation and the promotion of Science and Technology.

“Sri Lanka is turning a new page in its history. Inclusiveness, sustainability and greater engagement with international society, all symbolized in the agenda of this Forum, are the three pillars upon which we plan to build our future. Harmonious coexistence is at the core of inclusiveness and Sri Lanka has to re-learn that diversity is not divisive but can unleash the full potential of the creative human spirit,” he said.

The Prime Minister was speaking at the Science and Technology for Society Forum in Sri Lanka held today.

Over 5000 Indians register for festival on Sri Lankan island

A record 5,015 Indian pilgrims, including about 2,000 from Rameswaram island have registered for the two-day annual St Antony?s Church festival in Katchatheevu, scheduled for March 11 and 12, Rev Fr.
