Policy level action sought in Sri Lanka to address sexual harassment in public transport

Policy level action has been sought in Sri Lanka to address sexual harassment in public transport. According to a study conducted by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) – 90% of women and girls have endured sexual harassment at least once in their lifetime on public buses and trains. Only 4% of those affected reported the incident to the police. Sexual harassment is a grave violation of human rights. Auditor General visits SLC to expedite forensic audit

Auditor General of Sri Lanka Gamini Wijesinghe visited the Sri Lanka Cricket board headquarters today to expedite a forensic audit. Private jet makes emergency landing at Katunayake airport

A private jet made an emergency landing at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake today. The plane was on its way to Hong Kong when it dumped fuel at sea and made an emergency landing at the airport. The plane was carrying 11 people on-board when it made the emergency following a technical fault. (Colombo Gazette)
