He said that the protest will draw light to the failure of the government to fulfill its pledges to the UN Human Rights Council.
Premachandran said that the protest will look to put pressure on the government during the September session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
He said that among the issues which will be highlighted during the protest is the failure of the government to release land held by the army and release political prisoners.
Premachandran said the protest was scheduled to take place on September 14 but the date is yet to be confirmed.
He also insisted that the protest had no connection with the visit to Sri Lanka by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. (Colombo Gazette)
