Mother and son assaulted, son dies

A mother and her 16 year old son were assaulted in?their?house while they were sleeping in Monaragala yesterday, the police media unit said today. The police said that an?unidentified person had entered the house and assaulted both of them using a pole. According to the police media unit, the mother and son sustained serious injuries in the incident and were admitted to hospital. Thundershowers expected in some areas

The Department of Meteorology says there will be showers or thundershowers at several places in the Eastern and Southern sea areas over the next 24 hours. It also said that a few showers can be expected in other sea areas around the island. Winds will be from South-westerly direction and speed will be 20-30 km/hr.
