An investigation has been launched after a suspect died while in police custody in Jaffna.
The Jaffna police is investigating the suspect’s death who was arrested over allegation that he duped families of the missing in the North.
The suspect had reportedly obtained money from families of those missing with the promise of helping them find the missing.
Following his arrest, the suspect was being transferred to the Kopai police when he had allegedly taken poison and died.
The Jaffna police said that investigations are being conducted using the statements and reports obtained on the death. (Colombo Gazette)

these allegations are serious a black mark on all sri-lankans
and foreign doctors have to be allowed to examine these ex cadres immediately
Stopping Death in Police custody should be a priority to Police commission and to Government elected for good governance.
