Basil’s revised bail application to be considered next week

The revised bail application by former Minister Basil Rajapaksa is to be considered?by the Colombo High Court?next week.

Rajapaksa’s lawyers filed the bail application over his recent arrest and decision by the Kaduwela Magistrate to remand him.

Rajapaksa was arrested over the alleged misappropriation of funds.

He was arrested recently?appearing before the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID).

The former Minister was questioned over the misappropriation of Divineguma funds when he was a Minister.

He was later arrested and produced before court and remanded till August 1st. (Colombo Gazette)

Central Finance official missing

An official from Central Finance has been reported missing while returning from Anamaduwa last night. The official, who was returning to Colombo in a vehicle with another man, had stopped by the road for a short break and went into a small thicket but failed to return.
