“Do not try to play with us,” the Prime Minister warned while speaking at a public event in Kandy.

The Prime Minister said that the current Government will remain in power for five years and the newspapers which question the Government can also remain only if the public want them to.

“Newspapers can be critical of a Government but if they try to remove that Government and replace them with crooks, that cannot happen,” he said.

  1. UNP-Leader of Ranil W… who ruin economy by misrule of fiscal and monetary policies by issuing billions of CB bonds of higher interest rate.
Due to that UNP short sighted policies of Bonds scandal money and bond debts has gone unprecedented scale.
Under the UNP role of money become illusion in developing economic by UNP combine mismanagement of CBK and MS work together.

A survival of the fittest new regime of that MS backward capitalism has been lasted not years ,but months , but people want quick replace sustainability of capitalism.
What did UNP move against that supressed that expressed of different views has been exist since long periods in our Independence -freedom since 1948?

Why is that UNP an opposed freedom of mass media by Ranil .w… by UNP leader not believed democracy at all.

  2. Prime Minister warned “Do not try to play with us,” This is an absurd statement directing at newspapers in a country which practice democracy and the PRESS FREEDOM. If the freedom of the press is curtailed any time, then there cannot be democracy. The Turkish Government recently did it because it does not practice democracy in its entirely.

Additionally, Wickremasingha said that “he will not allow any media to push for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa to return to power”. How can he stop that, Mr. Rajapaksa is the PATRIOT OF THE NATION of the Sinhalese so whether there is newspapers to support him or not at current level he is very popular and admired by the people than PM or the government.

Then he went on and said ” ………that the current Government will remain in power for five years and the newspapers which question the Government can also remain only if the public want them to”. This means that the even if the government sell Sri Lanka to India no news media can question the Government or inform the readers or make any remarks to that effect, rather behave like those “THREE MONKEYS”. These are absurd statements that no person who is holding a responsible position in the government will ever make unless that person is having NIGHTMARES and is fully worried about his future status because he is the greatest loser in the country’s political history. If not why should a SANE person make a statement to that effect? IS HE SANE?.. He must be not aware that in these DIGITAL ERA (Face book, Twitter, Vibor, Instergram, e-mail etc.,) , you do not have to read papers to get most current information. The program Wikie Leaks still functions, may be he is dumb to understand this or he is not aware that newspapers will be there irrespective whether the public want those or not, as long as if the owners are interested in letting the word out to the public irrespective of the profit margin. To completely stop news decimation is only by to nationalizing the company. All in all, this person is behaving as if he is the Authoritarian President of Sri Lanka, which everybody knows that he is not, but, why is the Pelawatte Gamaralage Mithripilla Yapiya Sirasana maintain a complete silence status? Is Rannilla running the show and the other is the puppet?.

  3. This is not a warning. Ranil threatens media. Where is the free media organizations? Are they silent just because threats come from a person who wears western suits? It is shame. Dr. Ruwan Dissanayake

  4. This is one of the characteristics of good governance. I don’t think that a media can topple the government by asking Mangala to find a suitable position within the current government.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is following the Western democracy. The West preach to others about good democracy, but in reality it does entirely the opposite. If the West walks the talk, why Snowden had to hide in Russia? Why impossible for me to get a human rights lawyer to fight my case when the Australian government deleted my citizenship due to my writings?
