Parliament raises concerns over clash at Jaffna university

srilanka_parliament-8Parliament today raised concerns over the clash at Jaffna university over the weekend between Sinhalese and Tamil students.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told Parliament that investigations into the incident had been launched.

He said that some elements had attempted to spread communal disharmony using the incident but yet most political parties called for calm and this helped bring the situation under control.

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that the clash cannot be seen simply as a clash between two student groups.

He said that the clash had occurred in an environment where racial hatred was being spread by some groups in the North.

Dissanayake said that the investigations into the clash must look at all areas and a report with recommendations to prevent a similar incident from taking place in future must be submitted. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. “The racialists in the South trying to make political capital out of Jaffna university incident.”

Tamil fools know the outcome for their stupidity, yet they carry on since the independence. If this is not insanity, what it is?

Tamil students spend more time in photo copy shop than in library. Educated fools who call themselves as deans and lecturers are encouraging plagiarism. Tamils don’t think anymore. No wonder why the West and India have been thinking for Tamils for the last three decades
