Protest in Tangalle against arrest of Namal Rajapaksa

A protest was staged in Tangalle today against the arrest of Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.

Several joint opposition members also took part in the protest.

Rajapaksa was arrested by the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) last week.

He?was initially asked to appear before the FCID to make a statement over some missing funds.

He was questioned over the misappropriation of funds amounting to Rs. 70 million.

He was later arrested and taken to be produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate. The Parliamentarian was remanded till July 18 by the Magistrate. (Colombo Gazette)

Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka warns of overseas recruitment traps
