Mothers who forced school to take children arrested and remanded

gavelA group of Mothers who, with the assistance of Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma, forced a school to admit their children, were today arrested and remanded.

The nine mothers were arrested today for threatening and forcing the authorities to admit their children to the Meegahatenna primary school.

Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma recently instigated the drama and even attempted to commit suicide and was admitted to hospital.

The mothers together with the Deputy Minister demanded that 10 children be admitted to the school. (Colombo Gazette)
