Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma arrested

Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma was arrested today for forcing the authorities of a school to admit 10 children.

Thewarapperuma was remanded till July 7.

Earlier today a?group of Mothers who, with the assistance of Thewarapperuma,?forced the Meegahatenna primary school to admit their children, were also?arrested and remanded.

The nine mothers were arrested for threatening and forcing the authorities to admit their children to the school.

Thewarapperuma recently instigated the drama and even attempted to commit suicide and was admitted to hospital.?(Colombo Gazette)

SLC snubs past cricketers living overseas in new payment plan

The Sri Lanka Cricket board has decided to disregard former Sri Lankan cricketers living overseas in a new payment plan. Protest staged against inhumane treatment of prisoners

A protest was staged outside the Welikada prison today against the alleged inhumane treatment of prisoners.
