President takes fight against drug use to Nuwara Eliya

Maithripala SirisenaPresident Maithripala Sirisena today took the fight against the use of drugs to Nuwara Eliya and promised to implement programs in the area to eradicate the menace.

The President said that drug addiction among males and females in Nuwara Eliya has led to high levels of poverty.

The President was speaking at the 6th phase of the ‘National Program for a Drug Free Country’ held today at the New Town Hall in Nuwara Eliya.

Speaking further the President said setting an example is better than giving advice in the program to build a drug free country.

“Everybody should be committed to fulfill their responsibility, according to their self-conscience”, he said.

President Sirisena emphasized that he would ensure every National program on drug prevention is efficient in future. (Colombo Gazette)
