Major fire at leading private establishment at Hyde Park

A major fire broke out at a leading private establishment at Hyde Park in Colombo this afternoon. The fire broke out in a section of the ?David Pieris?Motor Company?building. Staff in the building were evacuated and the fire brigade extinguished the flames. Several fire engines were deployed to bring the fire under control. (Colombo Gazette)

Releasing of bodies from city morgue to be expedited

Minister of Justice, Human Rights and Legal Reforms Nimal Siripala De Silva has said that he will work out a mechanism to release bodies from the city morgue within 24 hours to the families of the deceased.
