Shots fired in Anuradhapura during attempted robbery

Shots were fired in Anuradhapura during an attempted robbery this morning. The Police said that an attempt was made to rob money being deposited to the ATM of a private bank. A shooting incident had taken place during the attempted robbery. The Police said that a security guard was injured during the shooting incident. Investigations are underway. (Colombo Gazette)

Speaker receives SC determination on Port City Bill

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has received the Supreme Court (SC) determination on the Port City Economic Commission Bill. The Speaker said that he had revived the court determination last night (Wednesday). Abeywardena is to announce the Supreme Court determination in Parliament on 18th May. AG turns down offer to be appointed Sri Lanka’s HC to Canada

Attorney General (AG) Dappula de Livera has turned down an offer to be appointed as Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Canada. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa had nominated Dappula de Livera to be Sri Lanka’s new High Commissioner to Canada. However, the Attorney General’s office said that he has turned down the offer.
