Sri Lanka to expedite development projects funded by China

The Government has decided to expedite development projects funded by China, the State Ministry of National Policy and Economic Affairs said today.

The Ministry said the decision was taken following talks held between a Chinese Government delegation and?State Minister of National Policy and Economic Affairs Niroshan Perera.

Zhou Liujun, Director-general of the Department of Trade in Services and Commercial Services met the State Minister and discussed Chinese investments in Sri Lanka.

The State Ministry of National Policy and Economic Affairs said that at the talks it was proposed to finalise a trade and economic pact between China and Sri Lanka.

Both sides had also discussed the Colombo port city project and a proposal to open a Chinese bank in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)
