Health Minister proposes testing blood of foreign tourists

rajitha senaratneHealth Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne has proposed testing the blood of foreigners who visit Sri Lanka in order to control the spread of Malaria and AIDS.

A statement from the Health Ministry quoted the Minister as saying blood samples should be taken from foreign nationals who arrive at the Katunayake airport.

He said that blood samples should also be taken from foreigners and locals employed at hotels and in the tourism sector.

The Minister said such measures will help control the spread of AIDS and Malaria in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)
