This was stated by Pakistan High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Shakeel Hussain while speaking at award of educational scholarships to 160 bright Sri Lankan students under Jinnah Educational Scholarship Programme of the Government of Pakistan.
The High Commissioner underlined that Pakistan seeks to expand its cooperation with Sri Lanka in the field of education.
Sri Lankan Minister for City Planning and Water Supply Rauf Hakeem in his remarks said that Pakistan government’s support in the education of the needy Sri Lanka students shows its commitment toward the bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
He said Pakistan is a close friend of Sri Lanka and has helped Sri Lanka in times of crisis throughout the history.
The Government of Pakistan is awarding Jinnah Educational Scholarships since 2005. So far 45 million rupees worth of scholarships have been awarded for promoting bright Sri Lankan students. (Colombo Gazette)
