Government doctors stage token strike, patients stranded

Government doctors staged a token?strike at several hospitals around the country today resulting in patients being stranded.

The strike by the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) was launched against alleged irregularities in some appointments.

GMOA spokesperson Dr. Samantha Ananda said the strike did not affect hospitals in Colombo, Gampaha and Kegalle which were devastated by the recent floods and landslides.

Emergency units of hospitals were also carried out as normal. (Colombo Gazette)
