Jetwing Hotels sponsors Can-Sur-Vive programme

1For the second consecutive year on 4th June, 2016, the Can-Sur-Vive programme – a CSR effort aimed at reinstating lost zeal while providing survivors with emotional, psychological and societal confidence and instigated by the CAN SUR VIVE Trust will take place at the Auditorium of the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka, No 6, Independence Avenue from 8am onwards.

Little praise is given to cancer survivors despite them being subjected to absolute discomfort and distress. It is no easy battle won, and this program acknowledges the brave and bold people who have emerged victorious from the dreadful disease as well as imparting confidence to those recently diagnosed and undergoing treatment presently.

While using the survival stories as inspiration, general awareness sessions will be conducted focusing on medical, physical, financial, spiritual and other related issues, associated with a cancer survivor’s well-being. This will be done in the hopes of enhancing the confidence of both survivors and their family members. The workshop will include lectures by consultants, including well-known clinicians, psychologist, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and sociologists. Financial advisors and clergymen will also be present to discuss the main issues and challenges faced by the survivors. Registration is free, and places can be reserved by calling the free hotline on 0713 161616.

Sponsoring the programme this year around is Jetwing Hotels, a brand known for being the home of Sri Lankan hospitality. Strongly committed to the care and health of all, Jetwing has constantly focused on uplifting lives through a variety of initiatives such as the Jetwing Youth Development Project, and is also the only major hospitality brand in the country to have three female General Managers.

Breast cancer is a taboo topic in our society”, said Hiran Cooray, Chairman of Jetwing. “Many fear every aspect of it, thinking it is an immediate death sentence or even a social stigma. Through CAN-SUR-VIVE, we at Jetwing are proud to partner in a cause that seeks to completely change this thinking to something far different – the truth is that this disease is curable, there are others who know what you are going through, and that you always have help and support if you should need it. I urge everyone who has survived and everyone who is currently undergoing treatment to register for this free workshop”, he continued.

Family owned and in the tourism industry for the past 43 years, Jetwing Hotels has surpassed expectation at every aspect. Building on their foundation of being passionate, as well as the experience of true, traditional Sri Lankan hospitality, constantly pioneering discoveries captures the essence of the brand. Such a strong statement and direction have enabled Jetwing Hotels to imagine, create and manage marvels and masterpieces, where distinctive design and elegant comfort complement each other and the environment. Considered a priority, sustainable and responsible practice is implemented through the award winning Jetwing Eternal Earth Programme; with energy efficiency, community upliftment, and education of earth saving measures to schoolchildren being a few tenets of the Programme.
