Sri Lankan maid accused of robbing from employer

The Dubai Public Prosecution has accused a Sri Lankan maid of robbing from her employer an estimated amount of Dhs 40,000 and jewellery.

The housewife employer said that while she was travelling abroad for treatment, her son had called her and informed that the maid had left the house. She suspected something fishy and asked him to inspect the money and the jewellery.

They discovered that the valuables had been stolen, Gulf Today reported.

The incident was reported to the police, and post investigations, it turned out that the maid had left the country. (Colombo Gazette)

Sajith, Dayasiri leave protest site as situation escalates

By Easwaran Rutnam Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekera left the protest site in Colombo today when some protesters attempted to break through a Police human chain. Premadasa was seen attempting to de-escalate the situation which arose between the protesters and the Police.
