Joint opposition begins protest march, ambulance attacked

The joint opposition began a protest march from Peradeniya today to draw public attention to concerns over the government. Large crowds attended the rally?led by former President Mahinda Rajapaksa which will culminate in Colombo on August 1st. The ‘Pada Yatra’ protest march was to begin in the Kandy town but had to be shifted to Peradeniya following a court order. During the march an ambulance which was attempting to get through the crowd was attacked damaging the side mirror of the vehicle.
