Thundershowers expected in several areas this evening

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places over most provinces after 2.00 pm today, the department of meteorology said.

It said that a few showers may occur in the North-Western, South-Western and Southern coastal areas as well.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during the thundershowers. The public have been advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.

A charred body of woman was found inside a burnt vehicle in Gampaha today. The Police said that the body was found in a burnt bus in?Kehelbaddara, Udugampola in Gampaha. The victim was identified as a?58 year old woman from Udugampola area. Investigations are underway.

Five people admitted to hospital after Horana explosion

Five people have been admitted to hospital following an explosion in Horana. The Police said that the five people had been admitted to hospital after an ammonia gas cylinder exploded at a rubber factory in Ingiriya, Horana.
