Sirisena says Rajapaksa was given the helicopters use in the best interest of his security.
He also said that Rajapaksa was allowed to pick his own security from the military after losing the election.
The President said that no other country would give a former President that sort of security.
“He went with a 226 security contingent when he lost the election,” the President said.
The President said that Rajapaksa was also given the latest bullet proof vehicles when he returned home after the January 8, 2015 Presidential election.
Sirisena told Sri Lanka Freedom Party members that the former President was now using the army security given to him to do political work against the Government.
He said that even he and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe do not use the army for personal security but only the police and Special Task Force. (Colombo Gazette)
