Chinese President asserts assistance to Lanka not dependent on individuals

Xi RanilChinese President Xi Jinping today asserted that China’s assistance to Sri Lanka is not dependent on individuals or any political party.

Speaking at a meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe in Beijing, the Chinese leader said that he expects relations between China and Sri Lanka to be strengthened under the cohabitation Government which is in power in Sri Lanka.

The Prime Minister’s office quoted Xi Jinping as telling Wickremesinghe that China gives assistance to Sri Lanka based on policy and in the interest of the Sri Lankan public and not based on individuals or any political party.

President Xi also said that Sri Lanka is an important partner to China’s One Belt One Road Initiative.

Wickremesinghe meanwhile said that Sri Lanka appreciates China’s role in promoting global economic stability and growth, and thanked China for its long-time support to Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Chinese leaders are classic international Businessmen. They know their strength. Before election Ranil told Port City will be stopped. People believed and flocked with votes. Now a total reverse. Ranil owes a duty to explain those who supported him not businessmen,but ordinary why port city is allowed to commence and what changes made in the agreement.
