Heavy rain expected in several parts of the country today

rainShowers or thundershowers will occur in most parts of the island, particularly after 2.00 pm today, the Department of Meteorology said this morning.

Fairly heavy falls (above 75mm) are also likely at some places. There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

The general public has been advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.

Meanwhile, the sun is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka from the 05th to the 14th of April.

The nearest towns of Sri Lanka over which the sun is overhead today (06th), are Opanayaka, Kaluthara-North, Molamure and Mahawelatota. (Colombo Gazette)
