Joint opposition questions Government’s policy on China

china-sl-flagThe joint opposition has questioned the policy of the Government on China and decision taken to approve several projects launched under the former regime.

The Government had said yesterday it expects relations between Sri Lanka and China to reach a new level during Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s visit to China this week.

“As PM @RW_UNP prepares to visit, what exactly is #SriLanka’s policy on #China now? Last year, new Govt hated our ally, now they approve?” opposition Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa tweeted.

The former Government signed agreements with China to construct the Port City at Galle face, the Mattala international airport and the Hambantota port.

The current Government had, at the last Presidential election, announced it will cancel some of the agreements signed between China and Sri Lanka.

However the Government has now decided to move ahead with the projects and strengthen economic relations between both countries. (Colombo Gazette)
