Complaint filed against Namal saying he threatened politician

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa?s son Namal Rajapaksa has been accused of threatening a young politician at a reception of a wedding.

Sri Lanka Freedom Party youth wing member Thisara Gunasinghe told The?Sunday Leader that Namal Rajapaksa had threatened him at the wedding reception held at a hotel in Hikkaduwa.

Gunasinghe, son of the late politician Nanda Gunasinghe, said that he had filed a police complaint over the threats.

?I filed the complaint for my safety,? Gunasinghe said.

Gunasinghe said that Namal Rajapaksa took him to a side during the reception and accused him of being part of moves to sideline former government members.

Namal had then allegedly threatened him and had said that if former Government members return to power, they will crush him and those currently in the Government.

Attempts to reach parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa for a comment over the allegations were futile. (Colombo Gazette)
