There were reports last year that Ban ki-moon will visit Sri Lanka during or soon after the visit to Sri Lanka by the UN High Commissioner for human rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein.
Hussein visited Sri Lanka in February but the Foreign Ministry says Ban ki-moon is not expected in Sri Lanka any time soon.
“No visit by Ban Ki-moon on the cards as at this moment,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mahishini Colonne told the Colombo Gazette.
The UN Secretary General has made statements supporting the efforts of the new Government to address the accountability issue over the war. (Colombo Gazette)
