Cabinet discusses power cuts and steps to prevent a crisis

Cabinet has discussed the recent power cuts and the proposed steps to be taken to prevent another crisis in future.

The Government information department said today that the cabinet agreed to implement proposals to address the power crisis.

Cabinet had agreed to implement the recommendations made by the committee appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena presided by the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy, and the committee appointed by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe presided by C. Maliyedda.

Cabinet also decided to purchase only the essential requirement of electricity from the private sector to face the limitations that could be occurred due to insufficient rain. (Colombo Gazette)
