Explosives including RPG launcher recovered in Mannar

A stock of explosives, including a Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) launcher has been discovered in Mannar.

The police said that among the explosives found were several?mines.

The explosives and RPG were found inside a well in Illupukadavai in Mannar.

Illupukadavai was under LTTE control before the war ended in 2009.

Police Spokesperson Ruwan Gunesekara said the explosives are believed to have been hidden by the LTTE?during the war period and after obtaining a court order, the army had destroyed it.?(Colombo Gazette)

MT New Diamond allowed to leave Sri Lankan waters

The Maritime Rescue Coordinating Centre (MRCC) has allowed the MT New Diamond oil tanker to leave Sri Lankan waters despite the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) saying earlier the ship cannot leave.
