Sri Lankans among illegal migrants arrested in Ukraine

cuffsFour illegal migrants, including some Sri Lankans, were arrested near a checkpoint in Smilnytsya in western Ukraine.

Three men and one woman with a baby stemming from Somalia and Sri-Lanka were heading to Poland on foot. They were however arrested close to the border, Ukraine Today reported.

After the arrest, the men were moved to a temporary detention centre. The woman and her baby are currently in a hospital, since the child caught a cold.

The border patrol says the migrants’ influx increases in the spring. In March they have already busted three refugee groups. (Colombo Gazette)
