This was announced by Power and Energy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya in Parliament today.
The Minister briefed Parliament on the recent power crisis and tabled some of the recommendations and proposals made to avoid a similar crisis in future.
The Minister said that a breakdown at the Norochcholai coal power plant was one reason the power crisis could not be avoided.
The entire country faced a sudden blackout recently following an explosion at a receiving station in Biyagama.
Ceylon Electricity Board Trade unions had said that poor maintenance of the transformer at the receiving station led to the explosion. (Colombo Gazette)
