Several Sri Lanka Freedom Party members and United People’s Freedom Alliance members attended the rally
Speaking at the rally Rajapaksa said that all the allegations raised against him and the Government he led are baseless.
The former President also insisted that no matter what happens he will not quit politics.
“Even if my family is arrested or I am arrested I will remain in politics,” he said.
Rajapaksa said that when he was President the war was won to ensure freedom not just for the Sinhalese but also the Tamils and Muslims.
He said if the current leaders cannot do the job properly he is prepared to lead the country and ensure the people get what they want.
Rajapaksa also urged the Government not to harm Sri Lanka’s relationship with China who he termed as a friend who helped Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)
