Fonseka accuses Gotabaya of kicking a soldier to death

gota SF in armyFormer Army Commander, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka today accused former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa of kicking a soldier to death.

Fonseka claimed that Rajapaksa committed the crime when he was in the military and served as a lieutenant in the army ‘Sinha Regiment’ unit.

Fonseka said that the soldier initially had a chest pain when he was taken for training to the Minneriya jungle.

The former army chief said that Rajapaksa, who was in charge of the training at the time, had ordered some of the other soldiers to drag the sick soldier on the ground.

“When he was being dragged on the ground he was kicked several times by Gotabhaya,” Fonseka claimed.

Fonseka said that the solder died in the jungle and some soldiers then assaulted Gotabhaya and the others who dragged the soldier on the ground.

Fonseka, now a Minister in the Government, said that Rajapaksa went into hiding for a month as a result of the incident.

Fonseka says he has the evidence to back the story and is ready to debate it on live TV if Rajapaksa disputes the claim. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Revengeful General, how many years did it take before you decided to go public with this information and why now after all these years. Did you take any action against the officer when you were his senior in the Army or even tried to initiate a court of inquiry if it was never done. In short your conduct is unbecoming of an officer and a Gentleman.

  3. Aiyo!!! This coming from the Army’s mass-rapist (71 Army women raped till they bled……. Now this moron is hell-bent trying to kiss up to the yahapalanaya, and discredit the previous govt. What a loser!

  4. If the “story” is a true incident that happened and can be validated beyond reasonable doubt, the culprit should be brought to justice. I don’t think there is statute of limitation applies here when a murder has been committed. On the other hand, if the “story” is another story and no way we can verify, it should be treated as a story. Then, if there is medical evidence to prove that the soldier died for reasons other than injuries deliberately inflicted, the five start general has to see stars.

  5. Totally agree with Diyani; Sarath Fonseka should have taken action against Hora Gota when he had the opportunity; he himself was a brutal ill-disciplined rogue; a disgrace to great generals of the world! Now trying to be an innocent pussycat!

  6. At last the truth has come out.

At that time Sarath Fonseka was of the same rank as Gotabaya Rajapaksa – a lieutenant.

GR was severely assaulted by soldiers at his residence in Nugegoda too.

Another event has to come out. About what GR did with his relation and commanding officer of the Sinha Regiment Prasanna Dahanayaka.

  7. I thought Fonseka was made a Minister to work for the country. However, he is busy trying to discredit the Rajapakses, giving me the impression that he was made a minister mainly to throw mud at the Rajapakses.
What a come down for this once great man admired by the people for being a party to the defence of the nation from LTTE terrorists as well as from the then opposition politicians who shamelessly carried propaganda against the armed forces. Having being rejected by the people at General Elections, this man like the JVP, seems to be grovelling for more benefits from this government.
Ranil, Mangala, Kiriella, Sampanthan, Chandrika, Rudrakumaran, Solheim must be having a hearty laugh at the turn of events.
This is a classic case of “Pride goes before a fall”

  8. Is this story correct or incorrect? That is the point. If it is incorrect, Gotabaya must sue against Fonseka. otherwise we will have to decide that Gotabaya is a brutal murderer.
