Power and Energy Minister refuses to accept Wijepala’s resignation

CEBPower and Energy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says he has refused to accept the resignation letter of the Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Anura Wijepala following an unprecedented Nationwide blackout.

The Minister said that the country needs the services of Wijepala based on his knowledge and expertise and so his resignation letter has not been accepted at this moment.

Wijepala had said that he will step down after the power-cut yesterday which lasted for over seven hours and affected the entire country.

He told reporters today that he had decided to resign as someone needs to take the responsibility for the power crisis.

Meanwhile the Government analyst inspected the transformer in Biyagama where an explosion had occurred yesterday resulting in the Nationwide power-cut. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. IF HE DOES NOT ACCEPT THAT FELLOW RESIGNATION HE SHOULD RESIGN. shame on all srilankans to have people of this caliber worst part is he is a bloody minister. He spoils the entire plot so he needs to resign.

  2. Then you and the Officers B well take the responsibility and get out . We suffered for 4 hours today too because of poor management of Electricity

  3. Lets elevate the Chairman to Ministership and make the Minister the Chairman.
That will work wonders……………because the Monister thinks that he is capable and that is the reason he is not resigning.

But a Miniuster can never resign as they are always right.
