Power chief set to resign following unprecedented blackout

power-outage-415x260Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Anura Wijepala is set to resign following an unprecedented Nationwide blackout today.

Wijepala said that he will step down after the power-cut which lasted for over seven hours affecting the entire country.

The power-cut resulted in a disruption to the water supply in several areas while other public services operating on electricity were also affected.

Huge traffic jams rarely seen on a Sunday night were also witnessed in several areas as the street traffic lights had stopped working.

The power cut was the longest experienced in the country in several years and it prompted the Government to call for a special meeting after suspicions arose if there was foul play. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Did the corrupted government asked him to take the blame and resign? So he will be given a diplomatic role for saving the government?

  2. Good Move. Senior Engineers must explain the cause of the Failure. Are there any trade union disputes. All were deprived the opportunity to grieve with the happenings in Asgiriya,Kandy, the farewell to the most respected, loved, venerated, Mahanayake of Asgiriya Chapter. It is not a black out but a black day created by CEB.
