RTI Bill delayed as NPC is yet to give backing

The Right to Information (RTI) Bill which was to be tabled in?Parliament today, has been delayed as the Northern Provincial Council (NPC) is yet to give its backing to?the Bill.

Media Minister Gayantha Karunatillake said that all except the NPC have given their backing to?the RTI Bill.

He said that the NPC is expected to convene on March 10 and will approve the Bill following which it will be tabled in Parliament.

As a result, he said the presentation of the Bill to Parliament has been postponed. (Colombo Gazette)
