PM appoints five member committee to look into power cuts

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed a five member committee to look into the power cuts which occurred around the island in the recent past.

The committee has also been tasked to made recommendations on the steps which need to be taken to prevent such power cuts in future.

The Prime Minister’s office said that the five member committee has been instructed to submit a report in four weeks.

An island-wide power cut was experienced in the country last week badly affecting day to day activities in the country.

Man arrested with over 300kg of Kerala cannabis

One person has been arrested for the possession of 323kg of Kerala cannabis in Killinochchi, the Police said. They said the suspect had been arrested early this morning (29) while transporting the stock of cannabis from Poonerin to Vavuniya in a tipper truck.
