Joint opposition Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Central Committee (CC) members have written to the SLFP General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake and raised objections to the removal of several SLFP members from their district party organiser posts.
Dullas Alahapperuma, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Kumara Welgama and C.B. Ratnayake have said in a letter to Dissanayake that the removal of some SLFP members from their organiser posts will further divide the party.
The letter states that while the President, as the chairman of the SLFP, has the right to replace any CC member, it is appropriate at this time to look at ways of keeping the party united and not divide it.
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party this week appointed new party organizers for several districts.
President Maithripala Sirisena, as the chairman of the party, made the appointments at his official residence. (Colombo Gazette)
