Enrique concert organisers ordered to appear in court

The organisers of the Enrique Iglesias?Concert staged in Colombo last year have been issued notice and ordered to appear in court by the?Colombo District Court.

Live Events have been ordered to appear in court on April 26 to respond to?a petition filed by agitated fans of the concert.

Live Events, the company which?staged the?Enrique Iglesias concert in Sri Lanka, was in December temporarily blacklisted over the failure to pay an entertainment tax of Rs. 29 Million.

The Colombo Municipal Council had said the company will remain?blacklisted till the payment is made.

Former Cricketers Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardena who are the board members of Live Events Sri Lanka, had earlier?called for an internal inquiry into the shortcomings at the?Enrique Iglesias concert staged in Colombo and had also decided to compensate the fans.

Sangakkara and Jayawardena said in a joint statement that the organizers were?in agreement, with their?direction, that such shortcomings must not be tolerated. (Colombo Gazette)
