Abducted youth rescued

The 22 year old son of a businessman who was abducted in Vakarai has been rescued by the police following a special operation in the east last evening. Police spokesman SP Ajith Rohana told the Colombo Gazette that the boy is in good health and unharmed. He also said that four suspects have been arrested following the rescue operation in Serunuwara. Two killed, 7 injured in accident

Two people were killed and seven others were injured following an accident between a car and a bus in Nawagamuwa this morning. According to the police media unit, the private bus was transporting garment factory workers to Biyagama on the new Kandy road when it collided with a car. Cyclone hits Manik Farm

Over 2000 people were displaced in northern Sri Lanka and several homes were also damaged when a cyclone hit the area, officials said on Sunday. The disaster management center said that approximately 1200 homes were damaged in the storm in Vavuniya including several temporary camps housing the war displaced.
