Businessman Thirukumar Nadesan, former Chairman of Hilton Colombo, was arrested by the police Financial Crimes investigations Division (FCID) today. He was arrested after being questioned over some land in Malwana. Nadesan was produced in court and released on bail. (Colombo Gazette)

Scotland Yard says nothing suspicious over Adhil’s death

Scotland Yard says there is nothing suspicious over the?death of?Adhil Bakeer Markar in London last week, the Standard ?newspaper in the UK reported. PUCSL to conduct inquiries on Norochcholai breakdown

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) is to conduct inquiries into the breakdown at the Norochcholai coal power plant. Director General of the PUCSL Damitha Kumarasinghe said that an independent investigation will be conducted over the breakdown. The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) was forced to enforce a power-cut from yesterday?as a result of the breakdown at?the Norochcholai coal power plant. (Colombo Gazette)
