Galagodaaththe Gnanasara granted bail by Magistrate

The General Secretary of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) the?venerable Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thero was?granted bail today?by the Homagama Magistrate in connection to the case involving the alleged threat made to Sandhya Eknaligoda, the wife of journalist?Prageeth Eknaligoda.

Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera was granted?bail by the Homagama Magistrate two weeks ago?over contempt of court charges.

However he was remanded for allegedly threatening Sandhya Eknaligoda.

The monk was remanded last month after he surrendered to the police after the?Homagama Magistrate issued an arrest warrant on him.

The arrest warrant was issued after the monk had allegedly disrespected court during proceedings into the disappearance of Prageeth Eknaligoda.(Colombo Gazette)

Coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka rises to 124

The coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka rose to 124 today, the Government Information Department said. The Government said that two more coronavirus deaths were reported in Sri Lanka today. Flooding in North and East as Cyclone Burevi makes landfall

Parts of the North and East have been flooded as Cyclone Burevi made landfall this evening. Meanwhile trees were uprooted in some areas and at least four people are reported to have been injured. The Disaster Management Center (DMC) said that a number of people have been evacuated to safer locations in the North and East.
