Colombo High Court rejects bail for Sicille Kotelawala

The Colombo Colombo High Court today rejected bail for Sicille Kotelawala and further remanded her till April 27.

Sicille Kotelawala, wife of businessman Lalith Kotelawala, was remanded till today?and when she was presented in court earlier this month and her bail application was taken up for hearing today.

She?was?arrested on February 4?after returning to the country at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

Sri Lankan authorities had in 2009 sought Interpol assistance to arrest?Sicille Kotelawala, one of the main suspects in the Rs 26 billion Golden Key credit card fraud.

The Mt Lavinia Magistrate had issued a warrant for her arrest. (Colombo Gazette)

General election likely in late April

Chairman of the Elections Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya, has said that the General Election could be held at the end of April next year if Parliament is dissolved at the beginning of March. Deshapriya said that the next Parliamentary elections can be held on either 25, 26 or 27 April if Parliament is dissolved in early March next year. Deshapriya made these remarks while addressing the media today (4).
