President says Sri Lanka today has no enemies in the world

MaithripalaPresident Maithripala Sirisena says Sri Lanka today has no enemies and this was made possible after his Government took office.

The President said that he concluded successful State visits to Germany and Austria wining many benefits for the betterment of the country.

“My tour in Austria and Germany turned out to be very good. Concluding this tour, we have been able to bag many benefits. We have been able to convince the business community why they should consider Sri Lanka for investment and collaboration,” he said.

The President made these remarks when he met with the members of the Sri Lankan community living in Austria in Vienna, today.

Sri Lankans representing all communities including Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim attended the gathering held at the premises of the Austrian National Library in Vienna. President Sirisena was warmly welcomed by the Sri Lankan community when he arrived at the venue.

Ambassador Priyani Wijesekera thanked the President and the community for organising the event which included cultural items.

“Today, my country has no enemies in the world. No country or organisation is against us. Since I came to power I worked with all countries and organisations to work together with Sri Lanka. It is as a result of this friendship that the Austrian government invited a state leader from Sri Lanka to visit their country. I am lucky that I could make it happen,” the President further said.

He said that it is very important that Sri Lanka builds on this platform to make sure that no war repeats in the country and that everybody lives happily and in harmony.

He said passing of the 19th Amendment to the constitution set the background for what is being experienced in Sri Lanka now and the country needs to build on that platform and rise as a great nation in the world,.

“This is the right time. If Sri Lanka was not the proper place to live in, owing to the grey period in our history, I assure you that this is the right time for many thousands of Sri Lankans to return to Sri Lanka and start contributing their knowledge and experience to build the nation Sri Lanka,” he further said.

Ministers Mangala Samaraweera, Mahinda Samarasighe, and Daya Gamage also participated at the event. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. When a country is growing and has a strong leader, other big countries in the West go against until the strong leader is removed and the development is stopped. Sirisena did all what they wanted so no need to become an enemy; Sri Lanka will stay poor once again. They will invite the slave leader to acknowledge the support given to them; but it is like giving a ‘lunch packet’ to a beggar. So the beggar will be a beggar for ever.
