Wigneswaran confident Cooray will meet Tamil expectations

Northern Province Chief Minister C V Wigneswaran said that he is?confident?the newly appointed Governor of the Northern Province?Reginald Cooray will?meet the expectations?of the Tamil people.

Wigneswaran also thanked President Maithripala Sirisena for selecting someone like?Cooray to be the?Governor of the Northern Province.

The?Northern Province Chief Minister expressed these views at an event held in Jaffna today where?Cooray assumed duties as the new?Governor of the Northern Province. (Colombo Gazette)

Power cuts likely as Norochcholai breaks down again

The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy said that there could be an interruption to the electricity supply in parts of the country due to a breakdown of a generator at the Norochcholai coal power plant. The second generator at the Lakvijaya Norochcholai coal power plant suffered a breakdown this afternoon, the Power and Renewable Energy Ministry said. Sugar content colour code now for biscuits

A sugar content colour code is to be introduced for biscuits, Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne said today. The sugar content colour code will be implemented from the 2nd of April 2019, the Minister said. There is already a colour code for soft drinks. The colour code for biscuits will indicate the sugar content and salt and fat content for biscuits.
