Valikamam North land owners threaten to invade HSZ

Valikamam North land owners have threatened to invade High Security Zones (HSZ) in the area if the land is not released before the April Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

People who own land in the HSZ have said that they are prepared to take bullets from the military in the attempt to get back what is rightfully theirs.

This message was conveyed to Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran and the Northern Province Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran at a meeting held in Jaffna.

The discussion focused on the families displaced from?Valikamam North and plans to expand the Palaly airport.

The owners of properly held by the military in?Valikamam North said that they will go by sea and land and attempt to reclaim their land.

They said that they will not be happy with an airport or port in the HSZ but only with the return of their land. (Colombo Gazette)

Another patient attempts to escape from IDH

Another patient had attempted to escape from the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Angoda. Police spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (IGP) Ajith Rohana said that the patient had attempted to escape last evening but was arrested.
