Pakistan jails man for attempt to smuggle turtles to Colombo

A special customs court in Pakistan has?sent a man to prison on judicial remand for his alleged involvement in smuggling of rare turtles to Colombo (Sri Lanka), The Nation in Pakistan reported.

The judge directed the investigation officer to submit challan of the case before the court on next hearing.

The Custom officials took the suspect from Lahore airport and recovered 22 turtles from his luggage.

The investigation officer told the judge that they had completed the investigation and further custody of the accused was not required. (Colombo Gazette)

Sri Lanka to release 10 Tamil Nadu fishermen’s boats

The Sri Lankan Navy will soon release ten Indian fishermen’s boats, which were taken into custody in 2015 and 2016, India Today reported.
