Police begin probe into triple murder in Wellampitiya

Three people were shot dead in the?Wellampitiya area last night, the police media unit said today.

The police said that investigations had been launched after a telephone call was received to the 119 emergency number of a shooting incident last night.

A police unit deployed to the area found that three people were shot at and were pronounced dead on admission to hospital.

Eyewitnesses said that men on a motorbike had carried out the shooting last night.?Investigations into the murder have begun. (Colombo Gazette)

Party leaders to discuss impeachment of CJ

Political party leaders are to meet tomorrow (Monday) to discuss the motion to impeach Chief Justice (CJ) Shirani Banadaranayake. Acid attack leaves 7 injured

An acid attack in a bus in Udugama last evening left seven people injured, the police media unit said today. The police said that attack took place as a result of a feud between a couple and the girl was the main target of the attack. The police said that the 26 year old girl was travelling in the bus from Udugama to Galle when a youth had thrown acid at her inside the bus. She was admitted to the Karapitiya hospital and then transferred to the Colombo General hospital, the police media unit
