Finance Minister announces New Year bonanza

Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa today announced a New Year bonanza which includes a special allowance of Rs. 5,000 per month for all Government employees. The announcement was made after the Cabinet met this evening for its weekly Cabinet discussion. Slovenia’s envoy to Sri Lanka plays down concerns on China

Slovenia’s envoy to Sri Lanka Mateja Vodeb Ghosh has played down concerns on China and also noted the importance of India’s role globally. In an interview with Daily Mirror, Ghosh said that?the attitude towards China has changed in recent times. She said that from the point of the European Union, they see China as a strategic rival in certain areas and as an indispensable partner in certain other issues like climate change. Slovenia just completed its role as President of the European Union.

Teen murdered in Colombo over Tik Tok video

A 17-year-old boy has been murdered in Colombo over a Tik Tok video, the Police said today. The Police said that the boy was killed along Madampitya Lane in Grandpass, Colombo. According to the Police media unit, the boy was stabbed yesterday over a dispute arising from the Tik Tok video. He was confronted by another group when he was travelling on the road with two others. The suspects had stabbed him and fled the area. The victim succumbed to his injuries on being admitted to hospital. F
